More photos of Ridley Creek State Park

I’m going to post more photos of the park soon; it took a while for one to finish, so I’m trying again later. For the most part, I’m uploading the majority of them on my Flickr page, where I put my photography into various sets. I’m hoping to revisit the park again soon, too, because there is still a lot of it I haven’t explored.

Ireland

I’m all registered for a seminar taking place later this summer in Dublin! When I went to one of the info sessions, a staff member said that on previous trips there, some used free time to visit Northern Ireland, England and Scotland. I’d love to do that as well; it’ll be an amazing experience overall!

Going Global

Early in the coming week, I’m finally applying for a passport! I’ve been wanting to do so for a while and the reason I’m applying now is because of an opportunity that suddenly came up with my grad school. I went to an info session about it, learned about some tourist sites already set up to explore on free days. The accommodations are on an awesome campus location as well! I haven’t registered or paid $ yet, since I had a lot to look into, not having traveled abroad before. It would be my first flight as well. But one person at the info session said that for anyone who didn’t have a passport yet, should get one now and if anyone were to wait a month to do so, it would be too late based on when the trip is scheduled. I’m just hoping that I’ll get a seat on the trip before they run out. So, I’m not sure yet that I’ll be going and I’m keeping the destination to myself until I know for sure; we’ll see.

It’s been so nice out these past couple of days, I thought I’d share a few of my photos of flowers in the spirit of springtime!

The DeShong Mansion - Early 2000s.

Riding by the mansion again for the first time in a while yesterday, March 4, 2014, I remembered this photo I took. It was surprising to see that now it looked like it was being torn down and since I couldn’t take a photo of it at the time, I’m hoping I still can soon. Anyway, I was surprised to see it in its current state because I thought I had heard something a while back about it possibly being restored. But I never heard anything more about it. As someone who loves history, old buildings and their architecture, I’m always hoping that one historic building or another will be saved and restored for whatever potential new use. So, it was sad to see the mansion’s demise. If I’m able to get one more photo, I’ll post it on here.
