Blogging Ireland, Travel Goals

Working on WordPress blog posts about my trip to Ireland; still have a few more days worth of sightseeing to cover.  But I love writing about travel and I’m hoping to see other countries sometime as well.

Some of my favorite photos taken in Dublin, Connemara and Galway.

An Irish castle’s name

The ruins of a castle I caught a glimpse of from the bus I was on, heading for Galway along M6 from Dublin.  In the same area, same side of the motorway, was a moon phases sculpture.  Wondering its name and history, I tried a few different ways to find out more.  Finally found out the name by using Google Maps and typing “castle” in the search.  Little pins displayed, showing many castles throughout Ireland.  I knew the general area where I saw this one, based on the sculpture’s location.  Turns out to be Rattin Castle.  Glad to learn its name and some history, because I was hoping to do so before an upcoming meeting, reflecting on the trip with others who traveled to Ireland.  It’s something extra to share.

Remembering Robin Williams

R.I.P. Robin Williams. I haven’t seen all of his work, but enjoyed all of those I did see. My favorite of his comedies, “Mrs. Doubtfire;” drama, “Good Will Hunting.”

My trip to Ireland is just a couple of days away now, so I have a lot to do to finish getting ready.  I’m probably not going to be posting until I’m back and have photos to share.  The trip is partly academic, so along with some leisure days, I’ll also have some reading to do for class meetings in Dublin.  Anyway, I’m looking forward to this first international travel experience!  By the way, the photo is one I took at a renaissance faire in N.J. a few years ago; fitting, because I love Ireland!

International Travel Gear

Just a few items I bought for my trip to Ireland:

  • Cord Wrappers
  • Anti-Theft Bag
  • Converter for charging gadgets
  • iPad keyboard with case
  • Wrinkle-free business casual attire
  • TSA Luggage Locks
  • Luggage Tags

I still have more things to buy and an overall to-do list to finish taking care of and, in less than two weeks I’ll be on my way.  Can’t wait to see the sights of Dublin and the Irish countryside!
